About Us

Child in Mind Ltd was founded by Jayne Beetham-Hatto and Katy Beetham to promote and facilitate the emotional well being of children and their families throughout Lancashire, Cheshire and Greater Manchester and Merseyside. Our aim is to put therapeutic working at the heart of every organisation working with children. Early intervention will begin to make a positive difference for the children in their care enabling them to meet all five outcomes of Every Child Matters. 
Child in Mind Ltd is committed to facilitating excellence in therapeutic training, for all front line children's services throughout the North West. 


Jayne Beetham-Hatto - Director 

Jayne is registered with BACP as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist. She is a qualified Play Therapist, Counsellor, Filial Therapist, and Clinical Supervisor. Jayne has worked as a therapist in the NHS, Education, and Social Services, and has been registered as an independent provider of therapeutic services with the NHS since 2005.
 
Jayne has worked throughout the UK and Ireland delivering Play Therapy training to such front line staff as Surestart Practitioners; Barnardo's teams; CAMHS Practitioners; Learning Mentors; Teachers; SENCo's; HLTA's; TA's; Social Workers; Residential Child Care Workers; Counsellors, Clinical Psychologists and Educational Psychologists.
 
The BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy is at the heart of everything we do at Child in Mind Ltd and as a registered member of BACP Jayne works at all times within their Ethical Framework.

Specialising in trauma intervention Jayne has undertaken further training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy  - a specialist intervention for the treatment of trauma, and more recently completed the advanced training in Complex Trauma and Dissociation.

Jayne has undertaken further advanced training in Sensory Integration Therapy and sees this as yet another part of the jigsaw that helps us to better understand our child clients.


Katy Beetham - Director 

Katy is registered with BACP as a Psychotherapist. She is a qualified Play Therapist and Clinical Supervisor. Katy has a wealth of expertise in working therapeutically with vulnerable children, with those who have been impacted by developmental trauma and with the parents and carers of these vulnerable children.
 
Katy is particularly interested in working with adopted children and their families and with those in the looked after system. Katy has been trained and supervised by Dan Hughes in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) - a specialist intervention for the treatment of children who are suffering with emotional disorders, including complex trauma and attachment disorders.  Katy has also undertaken training in the Theraplay treatment model - a proactive, intensive, relationship focused parent-child therapy, and has been trained by Kim Golding to deliver ‘Foundations for Attachment’ and ‘Nurturing Attachments’ (Parenting Programmes).

Katy is an experienced Play Therapy trainer and has delivered training throughout the UK and Ireland, she regularly consults with schools regarding attachment and developmental trauma, often delivers inset days and has presented at several Head Teachers conferences. She is passionate about early intervention and therapeutic support.
