At Child in Mind Ltd we believe that, given the right conditions, all human beings have an innate tendency to develop towards their full potential. Difficult life experiences can of course mean that this tendency becomes interrupted as we struggle to cope or survive in a hostile world.
All our therapists strive to provide a confidential space in which the client feels safe, contained and accepted for who they are. This enables the client to experience and accept more of themselves, and reconnect with their own values and sense of self-worth. This reconnection with their inner resources enables them to grow in self awareness and move forward to their own goal.
Creative Arts Therapy
The use of Creative Arts Therapy for individuals facilitates a deeper exploration than talking therapy alone.
Creative Arts Therapy integrates the therapeutic use of art, clay, music, movement and drama in a client led way. It equips us with a means of communication and expression that promotes the integration of physical, emotional, cognitive, and social functioning.
Creative Arts Therapy enhances self-awareness; and facilitates change. It is a recognised and recommended intervention for trainee therapists of different modalities as a means of exploring their own therapeutic process.
Counselling provides an opportunity for individuals to makes sense of difficult life events and explore a way of being that is more authentic.
It can be useful for the exploration of both past and present issues and can lead to an increase in overall well-being, self-awareness and a greater understanding of difficulties and relationships.
Sensorimotor Psychotherapy is a body-oriented talking therapy that integrates verbal techniques with body-centered interventions in the treatment of trauma, attachment, and developmental issues.
This method of treatment is highly effective for people suffering from PTSD, dissociative disorders, or emotional reactivity disorders. Many people who have otherwise not been able to recover successfully from traumatic situations, have found that the sensorimotor psychotherapy technique allows them to find relief. Because the emotional and cognitive processing centres are being indirectly accessed, rather than directly, those who cannot work within those realms due to severe trauma have seen beneficial results.
Sensorimotor Psychotherapy strives to address the physiological elements of trauma through somatic healing. Disruptions occur between emotional, cognitive, and sensorimotor layers when trauma occurs and correction must be implemented to affect healing. This form of therapy combines the emotional and cognitive processing mechanisms with sensorimotor processing in the treatment of traumatic situations.
